OPERATION: GARDEN GARGANTUALIS

Here Resides My Green Thumb's
[& occasionally my tough girl muscles]
To Do List...

  • Finish sowing the remainder of the INDOOR GERMINATION seeds
  • Finish raking the front/side yards
    • Compile the debris from raking & apply in thick layer over areas of yard that plan on converting to garden beds/rows [to kill grass/weeds]
    • Move any debris not used for the above task to the ditches, to burn off
  • Weed areas cleared by raking-use organic solutions to kill if needed.
  • Remove ALL Monkey Grass bulbs and roots completely.
  • Check pallets for rot, discard if present
    • Pallet previously underneath the raised bed MUST BE TRASHED.
    • Check neighborhood businesses for stash of new pallets if needed.
  • Seal/weatherproof all pallets to be used in garden.
  • Dump contents of compost bin.
  • Determine where shelving unit currently on porch is best utilized- side porch?
  • Have C mount a hook for the hose on the side of the house per his preference.
  • Set-up supplies for layer cloning the blueberry bush.
  • Move all debris from Legustrum to a burn pile.
    • Save/sort largest pieces of wood for arts/crafts.
    • Pull all bricks/pieces of concrete from that corner of the house for use in garden.
  • Sort through building supplies in the XL raised bed and discard any that are rotted or useless
  • Cut back cane- have C either do or teach me how to.
  • Determine where landscaping plants to be perma-planted and prep that soil.
  • Determine best place for ornamentals (in relation to existing landscaping AND vegetable beds).
  • Paint rocks with the likeness of each veg/fruit to deter birds from consuming the actual veg/fruit, painting one rock with the name/variety on it. (In lieu of traditional labels)
  • Plant cuttings and record in logbook.
  • Design locations and sizes of raised beds, tilled rows/beds between side/backyard and lot.
    • Measure out and mark the areas that must be prepped for planting.
    • Kill the grass/weeds in the above mentioned areas- see notes in binder regarding possible solutions.
  • Chart growth and planning dates on a specifically "Gardening" Google Calendar
  • Start list of DIY structure projects to be built
    • Attach list of supplies to be acquired for said projects
  • Add info for seeds acquired 2.26 to "Vegs 2019" folder and determine how they should be germinated
  • Choose ~2 methods of testing soil quality without buying a tool for it and figure out the qualities of soil from the yard AND soil acquired from the old Leach property (still in buckets).
  • Build a large container/hovel for dirt out of chunks of concrete/cinderblocks/bricks.
    • Empty buckets of soil from Leach into said container so Jimmy's XL bucket can be returned to him.
  • Fetch building materials off the roof of the drop-shed, as well as on the dog yard side of it.
  • Consider making a formal worm bed/box-TONS of goliaths under ever pallet from last season.
